WELCOME BACK!

To our returning students and families, welcome back! To those of you who are new, a hearty welcome to Meadow Ridge Elementary!  We are so pleased to see all of you in our school. We have had a fabulous week. The classrooms are once again buzzing with activity as we get to know each other and begin the important work of teaching and learning.

We were so excited to activate our fully electronic newsletter last year. If this is your first year at Meadow Ridge, you will find that this is a tool we greatly rely on to communicate with our families about events at Meadow Ridge.  Please help us spread the word to new families to sign up for our eNews.  This can be done by logging on to our web site. We also maintain a calendar on our web site,  where you can also view archived newsletters under About Us.Log on at:      http://www.mead354.org/page.cfm?p=1492

WELCOME NEW STAFF!

We are happy to introduce several new staff members this year:

Miss Kim Clark comes to us after working in the Resource Room at Colbert last year, and in Omak for four years before that.  She is currently pursuing her Masters in School Administration through Whitworth College.  Comments like, “Each year I learn as much from the students as they learn from me,” reflect her child centered approach to teaching. We are excited to have her on staff!

Mrs. Melissa Martin taught at Meadow Ridge a few years ago and was eager to return to us when a 5th grade position opened.  Along with her strong curriculum background, she brings her love for working with intermediate children.  Mrs. Martin embodies the profile of a life long learner as she holds a Masters degree in Initial Teaching and has a second in progress on Organizational Leadership.  She enthusiastically participates on community and school committees, enrolls in extended learning workshops and classes, and enjoys spending her free time in nature.  Welcome back Melissa.

Mrs. Julie Price will be teaching 6th grade for us this year.  She brings with her, both experience and expertise.  For the past seven years she has taught middle school, grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, most recently in Central Valley School District.   Mrs. Price has received her National Board Certification with endorsements in Elementary Education, Biology (4-12), and Math (4-12).  She takes pride in the fact that she creates a learning environment that is positive and engaging while empowering students to be responsible, self sufficient learners.  We are thrilled that she will be making Meadow Ridge her new home!

CaRon and I are pleased to let you know you that Mrs. Jody Budge will be our 6th grade job share teacher next year.  Jody received her Bachelor in Education majoring in Mathematics and Reading  and Masters in Early Childhood Education from EWU .  She was a Kindergarten specialist teacher last year for Midway and Meadow Ridge.  You would never have known that we were sharing her with another school.  She participated in our school events, staff functions, and attended our trainings.  She is a vibrant and vital part of our Meadow Ridge staff and we are happy to be bringing her back again this year.

The 2nd grade team is excited about the selection of Mrs. Brighid Rau, to job share with Mrs. Ayers, and welcome her to their team.  Mrs. Rau did her student teaching in 2nd grade at Brentwood Elementary, followed by a one year contract in 3rd,  here in Mead.  She had a one year contract with Spokane Public School last year and comes to Meadow Ridge enthused and ready to partner with Mrs. Ayers.  Currently enrolled with EWU, and pursuing her Masters in Education with a curriculum and Instruction emphasis, Mrs. Rau brings a depth of instructional knowledge to her job.

Seeking Parents for Meadow Ridge Council for Learning Improvement

Filename: j0354403.gifAs directed by the Mead School District Board of Directors, The Council for Learning Improvement at Meadow Ridge reviews school data and establishes school-wide goals for improving student learning. The CLI meets six times throughout the year to set and monitor our school improvement plan. This year, our CLI has two openings for new parent representatives, and we invite any parent who may be interested in serving on this important group to attend our fall parent orientation on September 13, 2007, at 8 a.m. in the Meadow Ridge Library.  We will review CLI procedures, review our 2006-2007 school improvement plan and look at data for this year's goals. Additional information about the Meadow Ridge CLI is available on our web site at
